Areas of Responsibility:
Coaching fundamentals in basketball, obtain training from alternate resources like camps/clinics to expand abilities. Manage practices, all aspects of contests and all football activities while promoting individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. This includes contacting schools to schedule games, gathering volunteers for contests, working with assistant coaches to delegate tasks, and network fundraising for team’s needs. Manage staff or assistant coaches, trainers, equipment manager, etc. Maintain and secure all team equipment and uniforms. Work with the athletic director to maintain positive two-way communication with staff concerning student-athletes. Develop and represent a culture that positively reflects the Sheridan community.
Qualifications Required:
- 3-years coaching basketball at the high school level (prior head coaching experience preferred).
- Effective coaching strategies to help develop players’ technique and skills.
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, schemes, and techniques of the sport.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, administration, district employees, families, community, and the state governing body (OSAA).
- Current First Aid Certification or the ability to get certified.
- Meet OSAA certification requirements.
- Successful applicant will be fingerprinted and background checked.
